For Seriously Weedy Lawns,
Choose Preen Lawn Weed Control

When a lawn appears to have more weeds than grass, a serious lawncare solution is needed. Left unchecked, lawn weed infestations only get worse. A weed-choked lawn becomes increasingly less able to push back against weeds and recover on its own.

Preen Lawn Weed Control is a go-to granular lawn treatment to rid problem lawns of tough weeds. It’s made to do one thing: kill lawn weeds. It’s a selective product that tackles more than 200 types of tough lawn weeds including dandelions, chickweed, thistle and clover. It kills listed lawn weeds down to the roots. And it won’t harm grass when used as directed.

Many people are familiar with weed and feeds. Preen Lawn Weed Control is not one of those. This product’s sole job is to kill lawn weeds. Because it contains no fertilizer it can be applied in any season, including in the hot days of summer when the fertilizer in a weed and feed would burn your grass. Also, with a weed and feed it's advised to wait at least eight weeks between reapplications because of the need to limit nitrogen content. With Preen Lawn Weed Control, which contains no fertilizer, thus no nitrogen, you don't have to wait. You can apply it even if you’ve just fed the lawn.

Prep the Lawn and Apply
Apply Preen Lawn Weed Control when grass and weeds are actively growing – spring, summer or fall. When choosing an application date, check the weather forecast for a two day stretch with no rain anticipated. Advance preparation is simple: one or two days before application, mow the lawn to its normal height or a bit longer, then water the lawn deeply, so that it will not need watering again for several days.

Apply the product when the lawn is wet with morning dew or after a light watering. You want the product granules to stick to the wet weed leaves as that’s how the active ingredient is absorbed by the plant and sent down to kill the roots.

After application, do not water the lawn for one or two days, then resume your watering routine. Treated weeds should begin to shrivel and die over the next week or two. If needed, it's okay to reapply in 30 days.

Get the Lawn You Want
After treating a lawn, give it a little TLC. Continue mowing and watering regularly and start a feeding program. Lawns that have been under stress don't tolerate normal high-nitrogen lawn fertilizers well. So, in the beginning, consider a fertilizer that's designed to help lawns recover, such as Turf Nurture Natural Base Fertilizer for Lawn Restoration .

Turf Nurture's balanced 15-0-7 formula promotes increased root growth and vigor after just two weeks. The 70% slow release nitrogen feeds the lawn slowly with no surge growth and long-lasting effectiveness. The lawn will show marked visual improvement within four to six weeks. This is a pet and child friendly product that’s gentle on the environment too.
