  • Title:  How-to Plant Bare Root Roses - David Austin Roses
  • Description:  How to Plant Bare Root Roses - tips from Michael Marriott, senior rosarian and technical manager of David Austin Roses: On arrival, keep roses cool and well packaged until planting, never allowing the roots to dry out. When ready to plant, soak the plant material in water for several hours or overnight. Did a good hole, one per rose. Amend soil with well-rotted compost. When planted, the the bud union (graft where the stems join the roots) should be positioned about three inches below ground level in cold areas as shown here or at ground level in warmer areas.
