Potting Up Amaryllis Bulbs -

  • Title:  Potting Up Amaryllis Bulbs -
  • Description:  Showy amaryllis flowers are easy to grow indoors in winter. Pot up one big bulb in a 7- or 8-inch pot. To initiate growth, water well then place in a sunny window. Growth will be slow at first then pick up speed. Allow 12 weeks or more from potting till bloom. "A big amaryllis bulb will produce at least two stems of flowers, sometimes three. Typically each stem produces four flowers," said Christian Curless, horticulturist for Colorblends, a Connecticut-based flower bulb wholesaler that sells direct to landscape professionals and home gardeners nationwide.
