  • Description:  An artful exhibit at the Amsterdam Tulip Museum transports visitors in mood to the time when Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent ruled the expansive Ottoman Empire.The era spanned 1520 to 1556; the territory spanned North Africa to Syria, Persia, the Balkans, Greece, Hungary to the gates of Vienna, Austria. In Suleyman's lavish court, tulip gardens were prized for their beauty. Visiting diplomats and scientists carried tulips from the "Ottoman Golden Age" to the "Dutch Golden Age" in the late 1500s. The Amsterdam Tulip Museum is located at Prinsengracht 116, 1015 EA Amsterdam - Netherlands, +31 (0)20 421 00 95. The museum and shop are open daily from 10 am to 6 pm, except KingÕs Day (April 27) and Christmas Day (December 25). Museum admission is Û5 for adults, Û3 for students and Û10 for families. I amsterdam card and Holland Pass are accepted. No admission is necessary to visit the museum shop.
